I got rid of my fax machine some time ago.
My 10 year laptop would be considered obsolete by some but I’m very fond of it, it works fine and I use it occasionally as a replacement. I must have in my basement some old equipment from back in the day: a B&W laser printer, an ink jet, two monitors, cell phones, speakers and bits and bobs like disk drives and cables… | | | neilmac İspanya Local time: 19:06 İspanyolca > İngilizce + ...
Printers. And I also probably have some old cartridges or floppy disks lying around from back in the day before CDs were widely used.

POST ITs! I have a Desk top which is 10 years old and working on Windows XP. As Microsoft has stopped support for Windows XP, the Desktop has become Obsolete.

But I have a lot of ancient software. It still works, but I fear that I will have to leave it behind if I get a new computer. | | | Angus Stewart Birleşik Krallık Local time: 18:06 Fransızca > İngilizce + ... Yes, my laptop and I want to hold on to it for as long as possible | Jul 3, 2018 |

My main laptop is coming up for 10 years old and still works perfectly. The only problem is that it works on Windows XP and microsoft have stopped providing support for it. Accordingly, it is impossible to purchase new software for it. I purchased the latest Trados upgrade only to discover that it was incompatible. Accordingly, at some point I am going to be forced to buy a modern replacement, but I am trying to put that off for as long as possible while my laptop is still ticketyboo as I am a bit of a dinosaur and don't like undergoing the process of trying to figure out how new technology works.

I love Windows XP! Not sure why they stopped the support. Have SDL 2011 installed and updates are not possible![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_frown.gif)

I got rid of my paper dictionaries years ago.
The last fax machine I had was also years ago.
Got rid of my stereo system/radios/etc. and use only the PC for music now.
I have a printer and I don't agree printers are obsolete. I don't use it for translation purposes.
I also have two calculators, which may be considered obsolete, but I have to carry it around sometimes, so not obsolete for me.

I also use a notepad (physical) for notes, and I'll not agree that's obsolete either, as I also carry it around, scretch, erase, blur, etc., and I can't do this in the virtual notepad.
I still have a land phone line/device, which is still OK, I think.
Is my piggy bank obsolete? It's also in my desk. ▲ Collapse
I am left handed and can't write comfortably with ordinary ball-point pens. I prefer a fibre tip or a pencil. I use them a lot!
I also have numerous units of Built-in Orderly Organised Knowledge on my shelves.

I have replaced several of them, but kept the older versions... like my Concise Oxford from 1960, with my mother's inscription and some interesting etymologies that have dropped out of later editions! OK, I don't use them all regularly, but some are absolutely indispensable. They are not all obsolete, either. ![](https://cfcdn.proz.com/images/bb/smiles/icon_smile.gif) ▲ Collapse | | | EvaVer (X) Local time: 19:06 Çekçe > Fransızca + ...
In my beginnings, I purchased a huge desk to have enough space for source text (then on paper) and for paper dictionaries. I use neither now, but my desk is still cluttered! Plus various stuff others mentioned.

My most obsolete piece of equipment is myself? Or the several handfuls of pencils? Or even my b/w laser printer? You tell me. | | | My main laptop | Jul 3, 2018 |
My Sony Vaio laptop? The battery is now dead, thus it's running directly from power socket. But Windows is on Windows 10. I've been thinking of buying a new one but feel too attached to it. Apart from running a bit slow, it is still good for work (not to play the latest games which I sometimes try to play in between projects).

USB hubs and all kind of cables | Jul 3, 2018 |
The other day my wife wanted to take an old mp3-player with her to the cottage. We searched for the charging cable but couldn't find it. Instead we found drawers full of USB-hubs and cables which god knows where they ever belonged. Also keyboards and old Rollermouse-models are lying around.
After all I copied her music to her mobile phone, all took only a small part of the free memory. | | | Konudaki sayfalar: [1 2] > | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Do you have any office equipment that would now be considered obsolete, or almost obsolete?
