I was sent a picture of an oriental screen with a small block of what might be text/words/symbols. It doesn't look like what I would recognize as modern Japanese, but it might be. Does anybody know of a good online resource to identify the language?

Polyglot Oct 9, 2013

I have software called Polyglot 3000 which is used for this purpose. It can usually identify even quite rare languages. You can find out more about it and download it if you wish from http://www.polyglot3000.com/

We here are a great online resource! Stick a picture of it up, and one of the Asian linguists on the site will surely give you some pointers.
