Honors society relevant to translation studies?

Hello! I wanted to know your opinions on the relevance of being part of a university honors society in regards to translation.

I would assume that the argument would be similar to that of wether formal training in translation is relevant or not, though I wonder if these societies would hold greater weight when they pertain to the area of specialization of the translator.

Is there an honors society for translators and interpreters?
