The name of the job poster was Johan Abelard, but he asked me to discuss the details of the job with Konrad de la Piedra via skype. The name of the job poster was Johan Abelard, but he asked me to discuss the details of the job with Konrad de la Piedra via skype. I signed a contract and they asked me to download a program that costs 150€. He assured me that he had sent me the money but that it would take 2 labour days, so required me to pay the program in advance.

It happened to me as well. I answered a job post on Translators Café; there wasn't any e-mail address, but he wanted me to contact him via skype. He sent me a contract and asked me to download the software (€150), telling me that they would pay for it (even before signing the contract!).

Same here. He also asked me a Proof of Address document. I am reporting him to the postal police.

I'm so happy I found this thread about this scam! I replied to a job posted on TranslatorsCafé by a Johan Abelard. After I applied, the whole thing started to seem quite fishy. The job posted was removed, but I had already messaged this person, who was asking to talk via Skype as "Email is slow and ineffective". I didn't and waited, then they reached out via TranslatorsCafé today again, but I wasn't convinced at all, as the profile page of this Johan Abelard had been removed as well. So I sear... Hello. I just wanted to write on this thread to let you know I've been scammed by these people (Johan Abelard posted a Translator's café offer and, although I thought everything was a bit weird, I finally agreed on paying a software they were supposed to fund). I'll see how I proceed with this matter, but I just wanted to let you know it is, indeed, a scam.
