Italian to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Cinema, Film, TV, Drama / cinematography technique

agree  Adrian MM.: archival footage found by the asker is not very different in substance and cinematographic principle.

I think we are talking about a sequence of films or short videos.
Archive images are short archive footage, concerning important personages and events.

Archive footage is mentioned in the link above:

Stock footage, and similarly, archive footage, library pictures, and file footage is film or video footage that can be used again in other films.

Notes to answerer
Asker: No, this is definitely not it. I know what you are talking about, but it's a second meaning of this word. This is what happens when you are watching a movie and all of a sudden in the movie they show a bunch of shots that, for example, are in different places and/or different times.

Asker: Dandamesh, sorry I was too hasty. Your understanding of what they meant in the end was correct. However unfortunately the term proposed is not screenplay terminology. Too bad Giovanni Guarnieri did not answer, since he came closest with Archive footage.
