Book of subjects of Commercial Law

Explanation:
Meaning in full: Book of natural and legal persons who are subjects of Commercial Law.

Needless to say, “subjects” refers here to natural and legal persons (personas naturales y jurídicas) registered in the Ecuadorian Commercial/Mercantile /Companies Registry (= Registro Mercantil) in Quito, not to any “subjects” (matters) studied by students or scholars at universities. I am aware of the potential ambiguity of the term “subject”, and this is why I specifically wish to point out that “subjects” are just people and companies in this context.

Further, “Sujetos mercantiles” is the abridged form of “sujetos de derecho mercantil”, i.e. the aforementioned natural and legal persons who are subjects of commercial law. All these persons are included i.e. registered in such Book, which is governed by the rules of the respective Ecuadorian Registro Mercantil (see underneath first link).

-> Thank you Adrian. The Ecuadorian Código de Comercio defines "sujetos" in its art. 7 as "empresarios o comerciantes". The key point here is if "subjects" is the appropriate term. Phil says it is not, and I think he has a point.

neutral  philgoddard: I don't think you can use "subjects" in this way - it's ambiguous. And "subjects of" doesn't work either.

Index of agents subject to mercantile law

Explanation:
A variation of Toni C's answer. Although 'mercantile agent' is an Anglo-Aussie legal term of art and denotes a (human vs. legal) person. A trader can be sole or coroporate.

Registro Mercantil is the Trade or Mercantile Rgeister or Registry. The Libro is only one part of it and contains this residual category.

Example sentence(s):
  • The expression " mercantile agent " shall mean a mercantile agent having in the customary course of his business as such agent authority either to sell goods, or to consign goods for the purpose of sale, or to buy goods, or to raise money on the security

Las so-
morales. Las personas morales pueden ser tanto nacionales como extranjeras;
