Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / abbreviation (an expense category)
French term or phrase: SI
Hi all -

I am translating a form from FR (Switzerland) to EN.

It is a breakdown of expenses for someone who is resident of an assisted living facility.
I am not sure what "SI" stands for.
Here is the list of the various expense categories:
Loyer
Pension, entretien
Charges, SI, téléphone, Billag, TPG, etc.
Impôts
Intérêts des dettes, amortissement
Assurances maladie et accident...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Michael

Information System
Explanation:
I'm a bit surprised that everyone was talking about an "information system" and then it got converted into "information Technology". I've always translated SI as this
So I've given a couple of references which discuss the difference.
In our context, for me it could be for example an intercom system where a person wanting to get in has to ring and there is a camera to see who it is.
What do you think?

While I think this is close, I agree with your thought (and that of others) that it is simply "Internet Service."

And yes, TPG is Transports Publics Genevois.

Thanks!

Système informatique = IT system

Apart from my suggestions in the Discussion, maybe a share of expenses, probably WiFi these days.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: why would a resident of "an assisted living facility" need an IT SYSTEM?

-> Like opera1 says, it probably amounts to an internet connection, but the person chose the words s/he chose, it's non-standard language use really. [Edit] / Looks like I was right.

agree  Julie Barber: As you say, the person chose their words, when they could have just said internet. For all we know, the centre might provide computers with internet access or entertainment/learning options// exactly! :-)

-> Thanks Julie! The residents might have a Call of Duty gaming station provided to them, for all we know.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: Disagree with your header term. "internet system" as you say in DBox or better "internet service" or simply "internet" is far more likely

Services Industriels de Genève

Explanation:

agree  AllegroTrans: most likely explanation in my view but it would be helpful if Asker could confirm this is in Geneva

-> Thanks, that's a good point, it would also definitely confirm TPG as Transports Publics Genevois !
