: Crash course implies learning the basics v.fast (e.g. at the last minute before a business trip). Intensive course can be quite a bit longer!

I had one of those in Tokyo for Japanese, years ago ....

: Not necessarily - full immersion usually means living with family speaking target language and not being "allowed" to speak a word of mother tongue for length of course....I did one once and we followed the rules up to thelast evening - I leart a lot!!
