Esofagogastroduodenoscopia?
Es un examen que permite ver directamente, desde adentro, el esófago, el estómago y el duodeno.
Mediante este estudio, se puede diagnosticar diferentes lesiones, benignas y malignas, tomar pequeñas muestras de tejido (biopsias) para analizar, sin causar dolor, y también realizar distintos tratamientos, como sacar pólipos (lesiones como verrugas).
Es importante que comunique las enfermedades que presenta, sobre todo cardiovascular, pulmonar, alergias, diabetes, si es portador de un marcapaso, así como la medicación que toma habitualmente, aspirina, anticoagulantes (heparina, warfarina), insulina, analgésicos, etc.
En qué consiste el estudio?
El estudio consiste en introducir un tubo delgado y flexible (endoscopio) por la boca y observar el esófago, el estómago y el duodeno. Se le aplicará en la garganta anestesia local para
adormecerla y así tolerar mejor el examen. Si es necesario, se le administrará un sedante intravenoso por parte de su médico o un anestesiólogo. Puede presentar algunas molestias, náuseas, eructos, sensación de opresión, que rápidamente ceden. La exploración durará entre 10 a 15 minutos, dependiendo si es solo diagnóstica o si se realiza algún tratamiento.
¿Después del Estudio?
Puede presentar alguna molestia en la garganta o eructos hasta eliminar todo el aire insuflado con el endoscopio.
No puede comer ni tomar nada hasta que desaparezca el efecto de la anestesia de la garganta. Luego puede continuar con su dieta habitual. Si se le administraron sedantes, quedará en la unidad de endoscopía unos minutos hasta su recuperación. Debe evitar conducir y tomar alcohol en las siguientes 24 horas.
Si se le sacó un pólipo (polipectomía), no debe tomar aspirina o similares en los 10 días siguientes al procedimiento, de lo contrario puede tener un sangrado significativo.
Beneficios y Riesgos
Mediante este estudio, son grande los beneficios que se obtienen: Se pueden diagnosticar diferentes enfermedades y realizar tratamientos. Se puede diagnosticar tumores incipientes, lo cual permite realizar tratamientos tempranos.
Las complicaciones serias son raras y el riesgo de vida, excepcional. Pueden verse complicaciones cardiopulmonares, sobre todo en pacientes con factores de riesgo (enfermedades previas y edad avanzada). Una complicación puede ser la hemorragia, especialmente después de una biopsia o polipectomia. Raramente puede ocurrir perforación de la pared de algún sector del tubo digestivo superior, aunque puede presentarse en pacientes con factores de riesgo (divertículos) o durante procedimientos terapéuticos. Una perforación puede manifestarse varias horas o días después, siendo el síntoma principal el dolor y puede acompañarse de fiebre en algunos casos. Las complicaciones severas pueden requerir tratamiento quirúrgico. Las complicaciones infecciosas son raras. Pueden verse complicaciones asociadas a la sedación, sobre todo en pacientes con factores de riesgo (enfermedades previas y edad avanzada).
Translation - English What is the Upper Digestive Endoscopy or Esophagogastroduodenoscopy?
It is a test that allows you to see directly the esophagus, the stomach and the duodenum from within.
Through this study you can diagnose different lesions, benign and malignant, take small samples of tissue (biopsies) to be analyzed, without causing pain, and also perform different treatments, such as removing polyps (lesions such as warts).
It is important that you communicate the diseases that it presents, especially cardiovascular and pulmonary ones, allergies, diabetes, if you are a pacemaker carrier, as well as the medication you usually take, aspirin, anticoagulants (heparin, warfarin), insulin, analgesics, etc.
What does that study consists of?
The study involves inserting a thin, flexible tube (endoscope) through the mouth and to observe the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. A local anesthetic will be applied to the throat to numb it and thus tolerate the test better. If necessary, you will be given an intravenous sedative by your doctor or an anesthesiologist.
It may present some discomfort, nausea, belching, feeling of oppression, which quickly subsides. The exploration will last between 10 to 15 minutes, depending on whether it is only diagnostic or if any treatment is performed.
After the study
You may have some discomfort in your throat or belching to remove all the air blown with the endoscope.
You can’t eat or drink anything until the effect of the anesthesia in your throat disappears. Then you can continue with your usual diet. Then you can continue with your usual diet. If you were
given sedatives, you will remain in the endoscopy unit for a few minutes until your recovery.
You should avoid driving and drinking alcohol in the next 24 hours.

Benefits and Risks

A complication may be hemorrhage, especially after a biopsy or polypectomy. Perforation of the wall of some sector of the upper digestive tract may rarely occur, although it may occur in patients with risk factors (diverticula) or during therapeutic procedures. A perforation may manifest several
hours or days later, the main symptom being pain and may be accompanied by fever in some cases. Severe complications may require surgical treatment. Infectious complications are rare.
Complications associated with sedation can be seen, especially in patients with risk factors (previous illnesses and advanced age).

1. Power on
1.1. Connect the power plug (on the right side of the host).
1.2. Switch breaker to "ON" and the machine starts self test (ticking for two times).
1.3. Press button *** to start, the machine comes into normal working interface.
1.4. Press power on button of the computer and turn on the monitor.
1.5. Double-click the icon *** on the desk to enter the workstation. First register patient's information such as the ID number, name, age, and then click "Save". The system comes into acquisition interface automatically.
2. Fluoroscopy
2.1. Manual fluoroscopy: Press *** button on the touch screen of C-arm host to enter manual fluoroscopy mode. Choose the corresponding body shape and part. Press foot brake until the image is stable. (If the image is not satisfying, adjust kV, mA to get the satisfying image)
2.2. Automatic fluoroscopy: Press *** button on the touch screen of C-Arm host to enter automatic fluoroscopy mode. Choose the corresponding body part. Press foot brake until the image is stable. (We suggest to click the reset button on secondary screen before fluoroscopy)
2.3. Pulse fluoroscopy: Press *** button on the touch screen of C-arm host to enter pulse fluoroscopy mode. Choose the corresponding body shape and part. Press foot brake until the image is stable. (If the image is not satisfying, adjust kV, mA to get the satisfying image)
3. Radiography
Choose *** on the touch screen to enter radiography mode and select KV and mA according to body part. With the patient in the proper position, press "enter", the "ready" lamp *** is on, press the hand switch and start the exposure. Until the two drops, said the end of the exposure, and then release the hand switch, to finish the exposure (if the image is not satisfying, adjust kV, mA to get the satisfying image)
4. Power off
4.1. Exit the image acquisition and the workstation software.
4.2. Turn off computer
4.3. Press button *** to power off the machine.
4.4. Switch breaker to "OFF" and disconnect the plug.
Caution
Do not cut off the power supply before the power-off program ends, in case of machine damage or data loss.

2.3. Fluoroscopia pulsada: Presione el botón *** en la pantalla táctil de la computadora central del brazo en C para ingresar al modo de fluoroscopia pulsada. Elija la forma y la parte del cuerpo correspondiente. Pise el freno de pie hasta que la imagen sea estable. (Si la imagen no es satisfactoria, ajuste kV, mA para obtener la imagen satisfactoria)
3. Radiografía
Elija *** en la pantalla táctil para entrar la modalidad de la radiografía y seleccione KV y mA de acuerdo con la parte corporal. Con el paciente en la posición, presione “enter”, la lámpara “listo” está encendida, presione el interruptor de mano y comience la exposición. Hasta que ambas terminen, es decir al final de la exposición. (Si la imagen no es satisfactoria, ajuste kV, mA para obtener la imagen satisfactoria)
4. Apagado
4.1. Salga de la adquisición y el software de la estación de trabajo.
4.2. Apague la computadora.
4.3. Presione el botón *** para apagar la máquina.
4.4. Mueve el interruptor en “APAGADO” y desconecte el enchufe.
Precaución
No corte la fuente de alimentación antes de que finalice el programa de apagado, en caso de daños en la maquina o pérdida de los datos.
