Source text - Arabic
Translation - English The International Centre for Sport Security Starts a New Era to Fight against Corruption Bribery and Consolidating Transparency
The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) has entered a new era in its history fighting against corruption and bribery that ravaged sports in recent years. This, by announcing a series of crucial resolutions, whether in terms of the ICSS management structure or changing its business strategy in the next period.
This statement was made in a press conference on Saturday, July 4, 2016, which was held in Al Doha, the headquarter of the International Organisation. In this press conference Muhamad Bin Henzab, head of International Centre for Sport Security, announced the appointment of the American Micheal Hershman, the founder of the International Transparency Organisation, as a new chief executor to the group of ICSS.
According to the German News Agency (D.B.A), a number of officials in the centre has attended the press conference including Muhamad Bin Hajaj Al-Shahwani, vice president, Emanuel Medeiros, executive manager for the office of the International Sport for Security in Europe and Latin America, as well as Helmut Spahn, sports safety and security advisor. In addition to a number of officials in the International organisation beside Bin Henzab and Micheal Hershman. The conference was managed by Karine Web, a communication director in the international centre.
Micheal Hershman has emphasized that Qatar is a role model country in showing interest in the field of transparency, integrity, governance and fighting against sport corruption. He added that he is happy to preside the International Centre for Sport Security in the next period.
Mr. Hershman, which is one of the prominent figures experienced in transparency, accountability, governance, security and litigation techniques, as well as applying international standards in the area of transparency said: “This is not the first time that I visit Qatar, I have lately visited this country and I am a member in the advisory council of the ICSS for more than one and a half year. During my visit this time I get known about the hospitality of this country.”
He spoke about his visit to the Transparency and Administrative Control Authority and said, “Initially I did not know that there is an Independent authority for transparency in Qatar and this was a happy surprise for me, more importantly seeing those in charge of this authority.”
In regard to the International Centre for Sport Security in Qatar, Mr. Hershman said, “Qatar is trying to be in forefront of those who launch initiatives and offer solutions to get out of the sport crisis.” He added, “Despite that the international centre is a completely independent organisation, however it reflects what I am uttering in crisis time that hits international sport.”
The Chief Executor of the International Centre for Sport Security Group continued: “I am absolutely confident that Qatar is financing the centre without preconditions and no one will dictate anything on us.”
Mr. Hersham emphasized that he does not like to promises, but he is optimised about the international organisation future. One aspect of his vision lies in the establishment of a commercial arm/s that maintain the centre status as unprofitable organisation, which ensure the maximum achievement of self-financing at the same time.
Mr. Hershman, one of the prominent in the committee that was hired by the U.S. Senate to investigate in the Waterjet scandal, added, “We need to expand our financing resources and to make some changes and diversifications in the centre.” He added, “We are ready to receive funding from any government or organisation as long as these resources are clear and do not affect our independence, because we need our youth to grow up in a clear sport world without the interference of any entity in our works. We welcome those who contribute to the international centre’s programs and initiatives that protect the governance, transparency and integrity principles in the world sport. I will endeavour with Muhamad Khanzab to achieve a sustainable heritage in Qatar and the whole world. ”
Micheal Hershman is considered one of the founders of The International Transparency Organisation in 1993, which is the biggest international, independent and unprofitable organisation. This organisation aims to promote transparency and accountability in business and governance.

Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP) is the regional office of the global environmental organization Greenpeace. Greenpeace Australia Pacific is one of Australia's largest environmental organisations.
Origins and formation
Greenpeace Australia had its roots in 1974 when Rolf Heimann skippered the 30-foot Tahiti ketch La Flor (temporarily renamed Greenpeace IV) from Melbourne to Mururoa via New Zealand, to protest against French atmospheric nuclear testing, but arrived after the final nuclear test for the year. La Flor is currently being restored at Goolwa in South Australia.[1]
An activist group, the Whale and Dolphin Coalition, formed in Sydney by Australian photographer Jonny Lewis[2] and French businessman Jean-Paul Fortom-Gouin,[3] invited Canadian Bob Hunter,[4] Greenpeace co-founder and its first president, and his wife Bobbi, Greenpeace's first treasurer, to Australia in 1977. They needed their expertise honed in the North Pacific against the Soviet whaling fleet.
Greenpeace's first direct action in Australia opened on 28 August 1977, at Albany, Western Australia against Australia's last whaling station. Over the next three weeks, Lewis, Fortom-Gouin, Bob Hunter and Australians Tom Barber and Allan Simmons used Zodiacs to place themselves between the harpoons of the three whale chaser ships and sperm whales up to 30 miles offshore. There were two near misses with harpoons but no injuries.
The Whale and Dolphin Coalition then morphed into Greenpeace Australia with animal rights campaigner Richard Jones registering the entity and Sydney journalist Jodi Adams becoming Greenpeace Australia's first coordinator. The organisation's first assets included a Zodiac from the Albany campaign.[5]
Australians harpooned their last whale—a female sperm whale—on 20 November 1978. The Cheyne Beach Whaling Station ended operations the next day.
Amalgamation and campaigns since 1998
In early 1998 Greenpeace Australia and Greenpeace Pacific teamed up to become Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP). The campaign against whaling has been very successful, and the issue has had some support from the Australian Government since the late 1990s.[citation needed]
The organisation also campaigns against nuclear weapons and nuclear power, deforestation, the release of genetically engineered organisms into the natural environment, climate change, toxics, bottom trawling and overfishing. It uses tactics of non-violent direct action to draw attention to what it considers significant threats to the environment, and then lobbies for solutions.
Solutions include clean energy, protection of ancient forests, establishment of marine reserves, protection of biodiversity and government and international regulation of environmentally destructive practices.
