Re: Your suggestions regarding the venue are most welcome!

Hi!
If the weather's warm I suggest "Tores" in Uzupis: nice place, great view. Very popular - it's better to book to be on the safe side.
Another option - "Vandens malunas" (Verkiu 100). Weather is important too.
And one more: a nice cafe in Valakampiai (Lizdeikos st., I'll give details if you need).
Dear Organisers, are you sleeping? Ïî÷åìó ìûøåé íå ëîâèòå? Why do I see so few interested members, I wonder? Where are all the rest? I... See more

Dear Organisers, are you sleeping? Ïî÷åìó ìûøåé íå ëîâèòå? Why do I see so few interested members, I wonder? Where are all the rest? I know there're at least 30 translators from Lithuania registered at ProZ. Send them personal email invitations if they're so lazy to visit this page.
I don't wanna force the group but for me personally September 21/22 or 28/29 would still be better. The matter is that I'm leaving soon and not sure whether I'll be able to come back before September 14. May be I will but... It would be a pity to miss the event.

Time is passing fast, and the day of our powwow will come in the blink of an eye. Which means, we have to decide the 'where and when'. There have been a couple of suggestions, namely, Tores and Vandens malunas. I think we should take the weather into account, too, and that might cast some doubts on Vandens malunas. Any other suggestions?

To translators, who haven't registered yet: Join in! Don't leave it for the last day. Actually, it would be great if we knew the approximate number of participants by September 23-24.
I hope you haven't forgotten our powwow next Saturday. Are there cafes or restaurants where you like going with your friends? What time do you think would be most suitable - bearing in mind that some of our colleagues are coming from Klaipeda and maybe from other places. What shall we do - meet somewhere obvious so that everyone could find, have a coffee +, and then proceed to the so-called 'main' venue? Or what? What shall we do - meet somewhere obvious so that everyone could find, have a coffee +, and then proceed to the so-called 'main' venue? Or what? How many of you are bringing your partners and children along (this is highly encouraged by Proz.com)? We have to decide all this during the next four-five days, so that next week we could announce the details of our meeting. And do you know of any of Proz translators in Lithuania who are postponing the registration to the last day? If so, do encourage them to hurry up. Or maybe nobody is interested any longer?.. ▲ Collapse

I think that „Savas kampas“ in Traku street or „Broadway“ club would be a good place to meet. On the other hand, the entrance in „Braodway“ isn't free from, I think, 20:00. But it would be a cozy place to start the evening. What is your opinion? Maybe you have some better suggestions?

I always thought Savas Kampas was in Vokieciu Street. No idea where Broadway club is. What about Bar Colliseum (not sure about the spelling) on Vilniaus Street, in that large Office Hotel? And incidentally, Nikita, do you mind if we switch into Lithuanian?

As far as I know they are near each other. These places are good for drinking-singing-dancing but I'm afraid they don't quite fit if the main point on your agenda is talking to each other (there you can only hear your nearest neighbour). As for Colliseum it's not too cosy in my opinion. While speaking about pubs what about Prie Universiteto? There's a special hall over there called "library", it's rather calm and good for pros socializing. What do you think?
Quote: I thought it would be a good idea for people who come from other towns to suggest an initial meeting place so that everyone knew it.
It's a reasonable idea but I don't think all of us shall be there in that initial meeting place - it's a duty of our organizers to meet folks from other places. Others can wait for them drinking bear. ▲ Collapse
