Well, there're lots Vietnamese terms used to refer to Mother. For example, in Southern Vietnam, we use "Mẹ," "Má," or "Mợ" (the latter is applied to a few regions in the South of Vietnam). For the Nothern regions, the words are usually used are "Me," "Bầm," or "U". There're a number of variables within the Vietnamese ethnics. In Muong (Mường) communities, the women who have children are called "Mế," while the Tay (Tày) people call the one who gave birth to them "Mé". One interesting thing is that most of these Vietnamese terms start with a "M" letter, just like the expressions in other Romanized languages in the world.
