martech

Definition from own experience or research:
Portmanteaus from English are generally kept in their original, untranslated form when translating for a Tagalog-speaking audience. This is because the original gist is kept intact by using the source English instead of forcing a Tagalog translation that might even cause confusion or require further explanation.

Common examples of portmanteaus are "sci-fi" and "fintech"; we do not translate them into Tagalog as "agham kathang-isip" or "teknolohiyang pampinansya", respectively; instead we keep them in English.

Example sentence(s):
  • Actual example sentence for "martech": English: "The top companies in martech are looking to draw benefits from the use of multilingual big data." Tagalog: "Ang mga nangungunang kumpanya sa martech ay nagbabalak na makinabang sa paggamit ng big data na nasa iba't-ibang wika." Similar sentence in live, published online form, but for "fintech": English: "Thomas believes that a lot can still be done for the fintech space in the Philippines..." Tagalog: "Naniniwala si Thomas na marami pang magagawa para sa fintech space sa Pilipinas..." - Balita.net (Tagalog online newspaper)
