German term

nachgeschalteten (hier)

Discussion

Ramey Rieger (X) Mar 7, 2015:
It's a manual so I don't see any mechanical or electronic procedures going on. It is obviously something to be read, either on paper or on the computer/device. there are two 'books', one theoretical and one practical.
gangels (X) Mar 7, 2015:
geschaltet / vorgeschaltet / nachgeschaltet In engineering terms, "geschaltet" is usually translated as "in sequence"; the 'vor- or nachgeschaltet' is generally predicated on the overall concept.

Given the vernacular, perhaps one could say "sequential process descriptions" , but when we substitute the pretentious 'nachgeschalteten' with the plainer "entsprechenden", we would get "respective process descriptions".
Ramey Rieger (X) Mar 6, 2015:
@Steffen Of course it would! I just find accompanying more appropriate, taken from my teaching experience, i.e. English textbook with accompanying exercise book, accompanying CD, etc.
Steffen Walter Mar 6, 2015:
But ... ... 'related/associated' would work nonetheless :-)
Heike Holthaus (asker) Mar 6, 2015:
An anderer Stelle:

Heike Holthaus (asker) Mar 6, 2015:
@Ramey you are correct. The process descriptions are separate from the QM manual.
Ramey Rieger (X) Mar 6, 2015:
Dessen/den is what has me thinking that the process descriptions are to follow or ensue and are not part of the management manual. They are still on the way.

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : You're the native speaker, but I don't think it means appended/annexed. Surely the implication is "dependent on" the management manual?

Well, it might - this would depend on the structure/contents of the document. Asker to decide on the basis of further context.
agree jccantrell : I would go with appended here.
1 hr
agree Armorel Young : I would want to find out whether they actually are appended to the manual.
1 hr
agree James Nixon : Agree with Armorel, but related if the document isn't actually appended.

German term (edited): nachgeschaltete Prozessbeschreibungen

subsequently described processes

or" subsequent process descriptions"
Peer comment(s):

agree Eleanore Strauss : I may be the exception, but I find this response to be the most precise... and Germans like precision

For what it's worth. There's also concurrent.

corresponding

Seems to fit the context quite well

"The management manual and the corresponding (standard) operating procedures"

SOPs are quite common in contexts like this
Peer comment(s):

agree Steffen Walter : Agree with 'corresponding', but I'd take your 'standard operating procedures' with a pinch of salt - I am not sure if this is really what is meant here.

I'm suffering from an overdose of TQM :-)
