Spanish term or phrase: proyectiles trazadores
Hi everyone,

This is taken from a documentary which was made about the Basque Country, during the Second World War, by a Nazi film company. The speaker reflects on his experience as a young boy witnessing the war in the French Basque Country.

Los ingleses solían venir por las noches a echar minas y había alarma aérea, y la artillería flack de los alemanes disparaba. Mi hermano y yo solíamos mirar por la ventana tranquilamente. Los ***proyectiles trazadores*** eran espectaculares.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jack

tracer rounds
Explanation:
There are several valid possibilities.

With "proyectiles", it's uncertain if they are shells or bullets. Tracer rounds is very common and covers both; tracer fire is less common but with the same meaning.

In the game I'm making I'd like to have some rounds that are fired show the trail they traveled (tracer rounds) rather than just appearing as puffs .

QUESTION: What was the first year the tracer round was "standardized" with the US military? I know Russia was around 1974.
According to my sources the late years of World War 1 was the beginning the first standard tracer rounds for the US Army. There were some tracer rounds before WW 1 for the 1903 Springfield. As the US Army began buying large numbers of machine guns then large numbers of tracer rounds were needed. It would appear to be 1917.

Tracer ammunition. Tracers

Explanation:
projectiles that are built with a small pyrotechnic charge in their base. Ignited by the burning powder, the pyrotechnic composition burns very brightly, making the projectile visible to the naked eye. This enables the shooter to follow the projectile trajectory to make aiming corrections
