- Durante las vacaciones de Semana Santa se realizó ***un Casal** que consistió en una salida diferente para cada grupo. El grupo de pequeños fue al cine y el grupo de mayores condujo unos karts.

hope it helps...camp works for summer but to me implies going away from home. casal's are usually day care to entertain the troops in the holidays (especially the loooong summer ones!)

I think your translation must come from Catalonia or Valencia. That is the way they refer to a Summer Camp ("Casal de Verano"). It can be interchanged with "Campamento de Verano". Again this is used in the Catalonia or Valencia region of Spain.

I'm tossing this out based on the descriptions: all activities take place during school holidays and it's not clear to what extent they take place in a fixed centre. "Camp" gets a lot of hits too, but may be misleading based on the description.

In every village and town at least in Catalonia and here in Menorca there is a Casal. There are two usages and they can often be seen in conjuction.
The other usage is "La Asociación de vecinos" which, of course, = "Casal"
