German term

Spesen, Entschädigungen und Zulagen

German to English Bus/Financial Accounting Expenses
These are differentiated in a Swiss document relating to corporate expenses. Spesen are exempt from tax whereas the latter two are not. How best to translate Entschädigungen und Zulagen into English?

So far, I'd go with a combination of the two proposals:

expenses, compensation (no s) and allowances
AndrewLQ (asker) Jul 3, 2012:
Sorry, I submitted it twice by accident. Thanks for your answer.
Usch Pilz Jul 3, 2012:
??? Is it just me, or why am I seeing the same question twice?

Subsistence (or per diem), reimbursements and allowances

This is what we used to call these when I still worked in the finance departments of companies.

agree gangels (X) : per diem or expenses, subsistence is hardly used anymore in this context
