Medical - Computers: Software / Hospital Management Software Manual
Spanish term or phrase: permitirá precisar mejor
Hello, I’m translating a Hospital Management Software Manual written in Spanish from Spain (with generous helpings of Spanglish) and going into US English.

The whole sentence that this term is part of is a bit of a ridiculous statement in itself, in my opinion; but aside from that, I have to try to make some sense of it.

The Codes in the context below are ICD-10 codes (International Classification of Diseases).

Context:

Procedures:

At the moment I’ve got:

Changing the description of coded procedures helps to clarify their catalog descriptions.”

But it just seems silly to me that simply changing the description “will allow their (catalog) description to be specified better” [literally].

Or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance.

facilitates a more precise description
Explanation:
What you have is, of course, fine.

The point I think is that a better description allows it to be "filed away" more accurately in the right place. Vague descriptions get misfiled often.

Thanks, DLyons, and everyone else for your help. Still don't really get the sentence fully. Think it's just poorly written myself.

Cheers :)

will allow to specify better

Explanation:
Based on how I understand the sentence, it basically deals with how the procedural change will refine/aid in narrowing down the available catalog descriptions.
