The check must be payable on demand or at a definite time. Generally, unless the check is post-dated, it is payable on demand. A check would not meet this requirement if it were written to be payable at some indefinite time, such as "when remodeling is complete."

What I have come up with so far is the following:
El cheque debe ser pagadero a la vista o en un tiempo definido. Generalmente, a menos de que el cheque sea fechado después, es pagadero a la vista. El cheque no cumpliría este requisito si fuese emitido para ser pagadero en un tiempo indefinido, como por ejemplo “cuando la remodelación se ha completado”.

I assume there has to be a more accurate term for "when remodeling is complete"
