to be stuffy, particular about something Explanation: Hope this helps! Someone who not only exercised his right to free speech but wrote countless wakeup calls about the state of this nation and this world. In a world of sychophants and ass-kissing yesmen, he said what he thought and did it in very eloquent ways. Those who have a cork up their asses about bad language were unable to get over the colour to see the depth to much of his work. Although not all of them write for the Sunday Times. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 mins (2011-07-23 17:02:20 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.mulley.net/category/twentymajoryoumagnificentbast... |

stiff, formal Explanation: There are a series of such expressions including stick up his ass, broomstick up his ass. The image brings up the inflexibility of the person/personality that is terribly upright, (both physically and in style) propped up by that foreign object like a human puppet -- that physical propping is an image for an upright/righteous set up rules. |
