This is on the line of the names of the parents. It reads "Eltern: Dipl. -Phys. XYZ" Could this be physician?
Change log

Jun 9, 2011 00:44: Lancashireman changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Cilian O'Tuama, Lirka, Lancashireman

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

hazmatgerman (X) Jun 9, 2011:
mit O'Tuama.
Horst Huber (X) Jun 9, 2011:
When the parents in question earned their Dipl.Phys. that was the major degree awarded to people who had taken at least 8 semesters of physics at a Technische Hochschule, and passed a set of final exams, known as Diplomprüfung. It qualified people for a career in science, comparable to Dipl.Ing. (engineering) etc. It should be given untranslated.
Uta Kappler Jun 8, 2011:
Diplomphysiker Dipl.-Phys. is short for Diplom-Physiker or Diplomphysiker, i.e. a graduate/diploma'ed physicist. NOT physician.
opolt Jun 8, 2011:
Aber warum ... ... "physician", wenn es doch Deutsch ist. Wahrscheinlicher ist wohl "Physiker".
Cilian O'Tuama Jun 8, 2011:
Dipl. -Phys. even has an entry in wikipedia.
I suggest trying Google before posting here.
