Discussion

Jonathan MacKerron (asker) May 6, 2010:
thanks for all your input if one thing is clear, it is that my question isn't. I was hoping that these were standard abbreviations, obviously they are not.
I'll see if I can get any additional information from the contractor and will report back, if and when I do.
philgoddard May 6, 2010:
With great respect to everyone who's made suggestions, I think we're just playing a guessing game. I'd get clarification from the customer.
Alison MacG May 6, 2010:
Three terms I agree with Stephen and Armorel and have therefore posted some links re OPG in the reference section. I think Kerstin is right about SBO. As for SBA, I don't know.
Armorel Young May 6, 2010:
Still looks like three questions I agree with Stephen - in Proz terms, this is three questions. Otherwise how are you going to award points if 3 different people come up with one right solution each?
Jonathan MacKerron (asker) May 6, 2010:
@Stephen Not really, they invariably appear together.
Stephen Sadie May 6, 2010:
Isn't that three questions?

possibly USA abbreviations?

SBO: Small business office
OPG: Office of programs and grants
SBA: Small business administration

Just a guess. Maybe the German is from an English original or XXX is an American company.
Note from asker:
Thanks JC, yes this is a distinct possibility.

agree writeaway : too bad there weren't a couple dozen terms. that would have solved a lot of questions in one go

disagree Kerstin Green : Sorry but this just does not fit the context. No connection to US government here.

Projekt-Sonderpreis / SBO

SBO = special bid order
Usually the abbreviation SBO just remains in German texts, though.

For the other terms please create separate questions.

Sorry I got confused there, of course you wanted the English term... d'oh!
Just the other way round then. Unfortunately I can't change the entry to "Special bid order" now, but I hope you get the idea anyway :-)
