| Reference: "calado" in this context (in Spain's Spanish at least)... Reference information: is exactly the nautical term, which translates as "draught" (US: "draft"). The implication is that you don't mention this (for a ship) unless it is a really significant one. That is, you use "de gran calado" (and there is a specific example of this in your original, towards the end) or the "gran" is clearly implied, even if not explicited.
