Επίσης υποδηλώνει τον υπέρμετρο σεβασμό στο πρόσωπο του χαρακτηριστικού ελληνάρα Αποστόλη που τον εξισώνει με τον υιό του Θεού.

I think I should start a new Proz as I'm wondering if my problem with the above is more to do with στο πρόσωπο i.e. does the fact that it says στο πρόσωπο του χαρακτηριστικού ελληνάρα mean that people do not direct the υπέρμετρο σεβασμό towards the actor, but rather that the actor directs it towards himself?

It means "toward the actor", its just another way to say that in greek.

Explanation:
You can show respect TO somebody, but you feel respect FOR somebody (or something). The person you show your respect to is not necessarily the person you have respect for.

So here I think "respect for" is more correct.
