تنشأ الصدمة العصبية نتيجة للإصابة بضربة الشمس، ردة فعل للحساسية، التسمم،الالتهابات الشديدة، الجروح، الصدمات.

تتلخص أعراض الإصابةبالصدمة بما يلي:
1- الجلد بارد ودبقا ويميل إلى الشحوب.
2- النبض ضعيف وسريع، والتنفس بطيء وضعيف، او سرعة في التنفس (سريع وعميق)، أما ضغط الدم فيكون اقل من الطبيعي.
3- تفتقد العينان إلى اللمعان، وتبدو محدقة والبؤبؤ متسعا.
4-قد يكون الشخص واعيا او غير واع، وإذا كان واعيا فيحس بالضعف الشديد ومشوشا
