tumefaction

English translation: mass or swelling

French to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / report on cancer patient
French term or phrase: tumefaction
Does this always mean swelling, or could it mean growth of a tumour, here?
This is listed under 'clinical examination'
'Tumefaction costale droite mesuree a 7 x 9 cm'
As they are saying the cancer has not spread to the bone, I thought this must just be swelling, but it seems odd to be so specific, in that case.
