我觉得，这里的“和尚领大背心”就是“圆领短袖汗衫”，也就是英文的“T-thirt”。在 “T 恤”这样的广式名称出现之前，中国的老百姓把“T－thirt” 那样的短袖汗衫叫做“大背心”。
“和尚领”原义是和尚穿袈裟与大襟相连的窄长领式，用于毛衣时指下边有叠合的尖领，用于背心时多半就是指圆领。
