J’étais en train d’étudier “Comparative Stylistics of French and English” par Vinay & Darbelnet, quand j’ai trouvé cette traduction:

Ils ont traduit « The Time Machine » (a novel by H.G. Wells) comme:

« La machine à mesurer le temps ».

Il me semble qu’une machine à mesurer le temps, c’est une horloge ou une montre, ou même un chronomètre, et « a time machine » c’est une machine pour transiter les temps, c’est-à-dire aller à l’avenir ou au passé.

J’apprécie vos avis. (Je vous remercie de corriger mon français).

Je trouve "se déplacer" mieux adapté que "à remonter" puisque le voyage peut se diriger vers le passé ou vers l'avenir.
