A different ink, although appearing to be the same colour would produce a slightly different pattern. Basically, chromatography, either liquid or gas, separates a substance into its component parts. If the same substance is repeatedly subjected to chromatogaphy under identical circumstances each time, it should produce the same results, but if you change the substance or the conditions, you will get different results. You can identify a substance from its chromatographic pattern like you would identify a person by their fingerprint. |
