Source text - English During this Week of Prayer, we have
studied and meditated on the subject of
stewardship. We have read about our
privilege of offering our tithe, a second
tithe, first fruits, gifts for the poor, and
various other offerings to God’s work.
But the question arises, Are you tipping
God? Do you remember your obligations
to Him only as an afterthought?
Do you think about giving only when it
is convenient?
By God’s grace, we are accountable
to God not just for our means, but also
for our time and other talents. We are
not to tip God, like we would a waiter,
with some of our extra money or free
time. God is to have the first, best, and
foremost place in our thoughts, words,
and actions. We are to pay our tithe
first and make time for God first–every
morning and every Sabbath.
Did you know that the tithe of the
Decalogue is the Sabbath? It is one commandment of ten, the tenth of the law,
consecrated to God. Hence, every morning
and every week we need to elevate
ourselves as a gift to God. | Translation - Spanish Por la gracia de Dios, somos responsables
delante de Dios no solo de nuestros
bienes, sino también de nuestro
tiempo y nuestros talentos. No debemos
darle propina a Dios, como hiciéramos
con un camarero, con algo de nuestro
dinero adicional o nuestro tiempo libre.
Dios debe ocupar el primer, mejor y
principal lugar en nuestros pensamientos,
nuestras palabras y nuestras acciones.
Debemos pagar nuestros diezmos
a Dios. Por lo tanto, cada mañana
y cada semana tenemos que elevarnos
como una ofrenda a Dios. |
