Kursk was a landmark – probably the greatest tank battle of all time and last the great effort by the Germans to break the Soviets by means of massed armoured formations in set piece battles.

Rozumím tomu (definice - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_piece), ale obávám se, že překlady, které mne napadají (klasická bitva? strategicky naplánovaná bitva) by ve čtenáři mohly vyvolat mylné asociace.
