: I don't think "a" is in order here. Maybe "its lengthly"++ It's incorrect to use "a" when one knows what (period) he is referring to. Here one knows. If you don't like "its" you can use "the" but "a" is just not correct grammatically

thanks, i don't see the problem with 'a' myself...it could be without a, but if its lengthy development period and lengthy est. period then it needs an 'a'
