French term

assembler les évaluations post mortem

French to English Tech/Engineering General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Technical duties during voluntary internship
This is from the terms and conditions in a letter of commitment for a technical internship with a North Sea company. This term is found on the penultimate row below. I understand that "post mortem" is not actually used in English geological terminology. So is there a better term to use here in this context?

"Vous serez charge aupres de XXX - :

"A frequently neglected part of a robust risk characterization process is the post-mortem. Explorers deal with the unknown and by definition cannot know what the drill-bit will discover. Post-mortems create the critical feedback loop that enables exploration teams to calibrate their risk assessment process, with questions like, “are we too optimistic (or too pessimistic) in our assessment of risk?”"

"Basically, a well postmortem is carried out in order to find out as to why there is no producible hydrocarbon in a well despite the existence of favorable geological factors and convincing hydrocarbon shows either during drilling or based on well evaluation of E-logs. "

collate the post-mortem reports

NB: Asker's text says "Preparer et rassembler les assembler..." which seems not to make sense

I hazard a guess at this intending to read ""Preparer et rassembler les évaluations post mortem"

Prepare and collate...

Here is an e.g. of the term post mortem used in a non-medical context:

Project post-mortem

By Emily McLaughlin, Coravin

A project post-mortem, also called a project retrospective, is a process for evaluating the success (or failure) of a project's ability to meet business goals.

A typical post-mortem meeting begins with a restatement of the project's scope. Team members and business owners are then asked by a facilitator to share answers to the following questions:

What worked well for the team?
What did not work well for the team?

The facilitator may solicit quantitative data related to cost management or qualitative data such as perceived quality of the end product. Ideally, the feedback gathered from a project post-mortem will be used to ensure continuous improvement and improve the management of future projects.

Post-mortems are generally conducted at the end of the project process, but are also useful at the end of each stage of a multi-phase project. The term post-mortem literally means "after death." In medicine, the term is used to describe an examination of a dead body in order to discover the cause of death.

agree Conor McAuley : "Collate" was almost immediately the word that came to mind for "assembler", gather together. / Same for both, really. Although "assembler" would be an Anglicism, and a bad one at that. Let's ask a tennisman to do un débriefing...

OK thanks but I think the intended word may be "rassembler"; "rassembler les assembler" has to be some sort of an error

French term (edited): assembler les evaluations post mortem

to combine, in a single file, the post-mortem evaluations/assessments

FYI, the term "post-mortem" can be used to describe anything, in this case the evaluations/assessments, that comes about as a result of a specific event or activity, and which, in the latter case, has been ended.

Various other online dictionaries of the English-language also corroborate the accuracy of the use of the term, as it is applied in the context of your question, and in the manner that I have.

Thanks. Do you have any examples? All I can find are human death evaluations using this term. Thanks.

French term (edited): assembler les evaluations post mortem

to collect postmortem reports

What Does Postmortem Mean?

In business terms, a postmortem is a process for discussing and documenting a project’s effectiveness so you can improve operations and mitigate future risks. The process of conducting a postmortem also produces a document that recaps all of a project's events and findings. This document is known as a postmortem report.

Why Conduct a Postmortem?
When you don’t conduct a postmortem, it’s too easy to move onto the next project straight away. In doing so, you miss the opportunity to evaluate the successes and failures of a project and what changes should be made for next time.

Throughout a postmortem, a team can dissect the details and outcomes of a project, coming away with actionable takeaways. This process prevents stagnation.

When you conduct a postmortem, you discover what went well and what you can improve on, allowing you to continuously optimize internal marketing mechanisms.

Certain steps are essential for getting the most out of a postmortem. Let’s go over these key steps that, once executed, produce a comprehensive postmortem report.
