Spanish term

tiras (in this context)

Spanish to English Other Ships, Sailing, Maritime
Ahoy, my nautical friends. Still working on this labour risks prevention protocol for fishing ships. Here's another one I can't find anywhere.
Context:
or
Objeto:

I found everything else (not easy!) but I'm stuck on "tiras". Thanks in advance!

Discussion

S. Kathryn Jiménez Boyd (asker) Mar 23, 2022:
Phil, yeah it's just a coincidence!! And Wilsonn, okay, sorry. I've just seen it so much that I thought it was necessary when it's a seemingly common word.

Is this just coincidence? Asked earlier today:

Wilsonn Perez Reyes Mar 23, 2022:

Selected

falls

Low confidence because I haven't heard the terms before in either language in this context, but I have an extensive maritime dictionary with the following entries:

tira - fall, tape
tira de aparejo - fall, tackle hauling part.
tira de pescante de bote - boat davit fall
(Diccionario Técnico Marítimo - Luis Suárez Gil)

And Merriam-Webster has this entry:

"boat fall noun
Definition of boat fall
: a tackle used to hoist or lower a ship's boat from or to the davits —usually used in plural"
