The term "amphoteric" may have been used wrongly for "both sexes".
Apparently, 両性 here has nothing to do with "bi-gender" or "gender-fluidity".

Thank you Port City, cinefil. "Both sexes/genders" is what I had in mind too, but there is this term "amphoteric" mentioned in a reference file to this paper, used in this context. Is this usage found anywhere else?
