Text is an Iberian Spanish study on player performance according to playing position in football. The sentence is as follows:
"los mediocentros (MC) son los que más recorren seguidos de los interiores (Int) y laterales (LT), siendo los delanteros (Del) y defensas centrales (CT) quienes menos distancia total recorren."
My problem is with the term "interiores". I've seen "inside" used but I'm not convinced.
Any help gratefully received

Other midfielders /left and right-sided midfielders
Here the distinction is those that are not central midfielders, and wingers in my experience are 'extremos' and would stay as wide as possible. So I would translate as above.

wide midfielder // right/left-sided midfielder
They're similar to wingers, and may often be loosely referred to as wingers, hence the confusion, but they are usually less explosive and generally have a more balanced defensive/attacking role than a winger would. If you know which side you are referring to, you could call the player a left/right-sided midfielder, but otherwise, I'd go for wide midfielder.
