Discussion

PAATA SIMSIVE Aug 6, 2015:
Είναι District Court! Είναι District Court! (καλα τα λέει το IATE)
Peter Close Aug 6, 2015:
@Nadia-Anastaia Good morning,
My discussion entry of 10:26 was not intended to criticise your discussion entry of 09:49 in any way. I am sorry if you obtained that impression. I merely considered that it was worth mentioning that I felt that it was honourable of Nick Lingris not to have provided his opinion as an ‘answer for points’, either if he was not absolutely certain that his answer was correct (until Dave Bindon confirmed that it was) or if he remembered that the questions had been answered before. In the same way, I thought that it was good of Kyriacos Georghiou for having provided his reminder of the meaning of word ‘πρωτοκολλητής’ in the same manner. I personally wish we could see more of such behavior on Kudoz. :) :) :)
Nadia-Anastasia Fahmi Aug 6, 2015:
@Peter Close Perhaps I should have added a smile at the end as it seems you've lost your sense of humour :-)

P.S.: Now I remembered... I did add a smile...
Peter Close Aug 6, 2015:
In response to Nadia-Anastasia’s comment that she wondered why none of us had provided ‘Larnaca District Court’ as an answer, I think that it demonstrates our respect for the fact that Kudoz is a facility that should be used primarily as a tool to assist a colleague and/or to remind a colleague of answers to questions that have been asked previously and not merely as a means ‘to earn points’ at every opportunity. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe that both questions, ‘επαρχιακό δικαστήριο Λάρνακας’ and ‘πρωτοκολλητής’, have been asked before in the past two years, and so it is to everybody’s credit that nobody re-submitted the interpretations as ‘answers for points’, because, ideally, points should only be awarded for answers provided to original and difficult questions.
Nadia-Anastasia Fahmi Aug 6, 2015:
Συμφωνώ και εγώ... Αλλά αναρωτιέμαι γιατί κανείς σας δεν δίνει κανονική απάντηση;

Καλημέρα και καλή συνέχεια :-)
Dylan Edwards Aug 5, 2015:
'District Court' and 'Registrar' - agree.
Kyriacos Georghiou Aug 5, 2015:
The Registrar
STAMATIOS FASSOULAKIS (asker) Aug 5, 2015:
Υποθέτω ότι στην Κύπρο όταν λένε Πρωτοκολλητής εννοούν τον υπεύθυνο πρωτοκόλλου (αχ αυτή η αρχαϊκή διάλεκτος της Κύπρου)
Kyriacos Georghiou Aug 5, 2015:
Me too ... in my capacity as a resident of Larnaca
Angeliki Papadopoulou Aug 5, 2015:
Αν μου επιτρέπετε, συμφωνώ κι εγώ! :) Καλησπέρα
STAMATIOS FASSOULAKIS (asker) Aug 5, 2015:
Hi Peter. I am convinced.
Dave Bindon Aug 5, 2015:
As a general rule... ...Cypriot law tends to be based on British Law, so British translations are most appropriate.
STAMATIOS FASSOULAKIS (asker) Aug 5, 2015:
Ευχαριστώ. Και προφανώς όταν γράφει μετά το όνομα του δικαστή Ε.Δ. σημαίνει District Judge =D.J.
Nick Lingris Aug 5, 2015:
Ωραίο. Μαζί γράφαμε. Θα συμφωνήσει και ο φίλος μας που τα θέλει σύμφωνα με τη βρετανική ορολογία. :)
Dave Bindon Aug 5, 2015:
Συμφωνώ απολύτως. District Court.
STAMATIOS FASSOULAKIS (asker) Aug 5, 2015:
To IATE το μεταφράζει District Court
