En los medios de comunicación se pueden encontrar ejemplos como «Esto permite direccionar toda la actividad promocional y la innovación» o «La información permitirá direccionar las acciones y programas según las necesidades»
El término direccionar es innecesario, pues se ha formado a partir del sustantivo dirección, que significa ‘acción y efecto de dirigir’, según indica el diccionario académico. Por lo que los posibles sentidos relacionados con dirección ya los tiene el verbo dirigir.
Aunque en el lenguaje informático se distingue entre dirigir (trasladar el contenido) y direccionar (especificar una ruta en una red para que la información llegue a su destino), en el resto de los ámbitos es preferible no utilizar el verbo direccionar en lugar de dirigir.
Así, en los ejemplos anteriores, lo adecuado habría sido escribir «Esto permite dirigir toda la actividad promocional y la innovación» y «La información permitirá dirigir las acciones y programas según las necesidades».
