Greetings,
The one-volume Āryānpur Progressive Persian-English Dictionary gives an important meaning of ‘دانه’ which I seem to have neglected to date:
حلقهی کاموا به دور میل
It then gives the English “loop, stitch”.
Now, it seems to me that the dictionary is describing the process of making a stitch rather than the finished product as seen in a piece of knitting etc., but as I need to be sure I wish to ask about the meaning of به دور میل, please.
Please could you also give the pronunciation?

/nakh kesh/. Moreover, regarding the definition of دانه, each stitch which is wrapped around the needle is called دانه, but I do not think it is frequently used.
For example, when a woman’s stockings ladder, I believe she will say this: دانهی جورابم در رفته است
So here, at least, the dictionary definition offered by the one-volume Āryānpur Progressive Persian-English Dictionary doesn't really fit.
But maybe I'm being too literal-minded here.
It is just describing; the stitches are around the needle. I think the second choice is correct here; It is portraying a thing!

As you can see, the needles are at the top and the stitches are indeed wrapped around them.
So perhaps I was right about this dictionary entry referring to the process of making a stitch rather than the finished product?
Or does it perhaps refer to the stitches themselves but in the initial process of their formation?
In other words, is the dictionary definition portraying an action or a thing?
