Italian term

specchio

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering doors
I have no idea whether this "specchio" is a true and proper mirror or indicates the doors or what. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Discussion

Eileen Cartoon (asker) Oct 4, 2011:
from something that came up later in the file, I am beginning to think here specchio means panel as in the door is not divided into two sections (some doors are even divided in 3 or 4) with bevelled frame around them. Here I think it might mean simply that it is a smooth door with no sections. Could this be appropriate?

mirror image

It is a bit of a stretch, but I think that the clue is in the "pantografatura" technique. It is a way of replicating something, like the moulding on a panel of a wooden door so that both sides match. It could also presumably be a way of making a design on a mirrored surface but I think that sounds weird, and then why both sides? Here is a link where a similar phrase is used http://www.espositoriidealegno.it/

glass panel

Even though specchio is literally a mirror, I don't think it quite applies here.

I think it's more likely that they're saying there are glass panels in the door(s).
