María Eugenia Wachtendorff (asker) Feb 26, 2011:
Many thanks, everybody :) I decided to use my initial idea, "rubber flooring," as it is the most popular solution. My niece, an architect, supports my choice.
Bill Harrison (X) Feb 21, 2011:
I am not... ...convinced just what they are referring to here. Is it the pisos being covered? Does it mean that the 'polishing' includes some sort of anti-deslizante??
María Eugenia Wachtendorff (asker) Feb 21, 2011:
Go ahead! All contributions to the KOG are useful.
philgoddard Feb 21, 2011:
Well, someone post it as an answer...
María Eugenia Wachtendorff (asker) Feb 21, 2011:
OMG! I was searching for "tiled or rubber flooring."
Sleep deprivation...
Thank you, Graham, Gilla and Bill :)

anti-slip rubberised coating

This is my best guess.

There are many non-slip paints on the market today however none of them offer the unique combination of benefits of Protectakote. Protectakote is an extremely well established product and has, under the Durabak name, been around in the USA for over 15 years. Rather than just a non-slip (anti-slip) paint Protectakote is an advanced anti-slip Polyurethane coating incorporating rubber granules, so offering exceptional durability, flexibility and toughness. Yet despite its amazing anti slip properties it is non abrasive and extremely easy to apply making it suitable for the trade and DIYers alike.

Tough non-slip finish
Protecta-kote is formulated using rubber granules that give it an attractive textured anti-slip finish (even in the wet). This makes Protecta-kote ideal for use on stairs, walkways, floors, boat decks, truck beds, ramps, trailers, fire escapes and many many more (see the application section for more areas).

Maria, Your comment confirms, in my view, that this is some sort of anti-slip coating, particularly in view of the fact that we are talking about public buildings where this sort of safety feature is extremely important with the modern trend to sue the building owners when they slip on the surface. And in your context, it obviously does not refer to matting or carpeting.

You could of course just say 'rubberized coating'. But I am sure that this must be it's purpose.
Note from asker:
Dear Bill, I'm sorry I couldn't reply to your question on the discussion board earlier. My client is an industrial cleaning company. They serve hospitals, supermarkets, banks, factories, etc., and they are describing the kinds of flooring they treat and the characteristics of the people and equipment they use. There is no reference to anti-slip materials :) Thank you very much for all the information you included in your answer. I am sure it will be useful to other colleagues in the future!
