Generally, in every printer configuration table, there is a shift code (or offset) for the default paper input tray supported by specific driver. This shift code shows how the guide bar of the paper feed trays are moved (or shifted) to properly feed different types of envelopes into the printer. In fact, the shift code "tells" the printer engine where to put the image on the larger (virtualized) sheet of paper. If the images stay at its original location, this value is set to 0. If the printer moves (shifts) the image to the middle of the page, this value will be set to 1. If the printer places the image across the page, then it will set to 2. A print test may be utilized to determine whether it is the proper shift code used or not. And in Vietnamese technical terms of shift code is "mã chuyển đổi".
