droit social

French to English Bus/Financial Law (general)
In a document about changes in corporate legislation. The obvious translation might be "corporate law", but all these articles are in fact concerned with employee relations... isn't "social" used here in the sense of "plan social"... i.e. sthg to do with the employees? Mightn't it be sthg more like "Employee relations law"? This one has often puzzled me before!

Just a quick point - if this is a document for a UK audience then I would go with "employment law"; if it's for a US audience then "labour law".

Actually in this document it appears in a heading only: DEPARTEMENT DE DROIT SOCIAL... and then all the articles underneath are case studies of indemnities and allowances relating to employees or things like legislation relating to whistleblowing - but they all have in common that they relate to the employees... so far I like Labour Law

According to Wikipedia: Social rights are generally considered an obligation a society places upon itself and its citizens to ensure to all people some specified standard of living, without discrimination.

And in France there are three specific components to droit social, take a look at the link..
