Estoy traduciendo el currículum de una filóloga, catedrática, ex vicerrectora académica, ex rectora de la Universidad, ex presidenta de varias organizaciones centroamericanas... casi al final menciona algunas distinciones, entre ellas, una beca otorgada por el gobierno de Francia... ahora mi duda es, descarté una "scholarship", entonces sería esto una "grant" o viene a ser un "fellowship". No estoy segura de la categoría, si hay diferencia. No cuento con mucho contexto, solo dice "Beca otorgada por el Gobierno de Francia".

You are right about grant, although here in the US it is more often used for organizations. As for scholarship, as its name implies, it was originally and still most often used to reward academic excellence, and is not necessarily tied to need.

Grant/Fellowship/Scholarship Había descartado "Scholarship" porque me parece que es un tipo de beca más por situación económica o por méritos deportivos o artísticos que por atestados académicos. Me parece que "Fellowship" es una buena opción, pero no quiero quedarme con la duda de "Grant", por favor, alguien que me explique, estuve investigando en Internet y por ejemplo encontré: http://www.state.nj.us/njded/grants/gropps.shtml (donde "Grant" parece ser una "beca" a personas, algo similar a mi pregunta). Gracias.

a mi entender el grant es dinero que se recibe que ha de ser usado (en este caso con fines academicos) o sea puede ser dinero para la educacion el pasaje y la estadia.
Scholarship es una beca estrictamente academica, o sea estudio sin costo.
y fellowship a mi entender es una pasantia (que puede ser paga o no)
