: that's for sure in the right direction, but possibly too mild // not coarse enough. Can't find enough samples of people being called "knob-cheese" to get a precise idea of the "nuance of meaning", but it does sound like s.o. being real nasty.

| j'avais trouvé comme définition littérale : segma (ce qui est peu ragoûtant), et avais également consulté l'urban dictionnary l'expression suce-boules ne m'était pas venue à l'esprit, elle peut etre déclinée sous divers variants :lèche-cul par exemple. En tant que personne je me contenterais bien de lèche-bottes. Est-ce mon rôle en tant que traductrice que de relever le champ lexical ? Pour avoir lu le premier volume de Games of Thrones dans les deux langues, j'ai trouvé que le traducteur avait largement utilisé un registre lexical qui augmentait la noirceur du livre, ce qui n'était pas franchement nécessaire à mon goût. |

But what kind of person would be branded "knob-cheese" is not so obvious.
The part "will do whatever they can to better their lot at the expense of others" would suggest that it's some kind of self-centered prick, egocentric piece of shit, or something along those lines.
"knob-cheese" not being particularly appetizing, someone branded a "knob-cheese" must be some rather repulsive / obnoxious character. But it's unclear as to in which way repulsive.
