German term

als Motivationsbeschleuniger

Hilfe wäre also nett.

Discussion

Gudrun Wolfrath Apr 17, 2015:
Thanks. We're aiming at 105 %, next time.
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 17, 2015:
HAHA! No problem I don't exactly know where I have those 104 % from. But I remember in a very vague way a manual for a machine where the maximum load respectively maximum speed was specified at a specific value (which would be 100 %).

Within the internal specifications there was a hint that all movable parts are constructed in a way that also a slight overload wooldn't hurt. It was not 10 % it was in the range 4-5 %!

I *really* have no clue/memory what machine it was it just gone by a blur.

Some months later I had the idea to Agree to perfect solutions here in KuDoz with 100 % and sometimes with 104 %!

So it's also just kidding and a nice way to communicate that all of this answers are more impressive than possible.

It's redefining and reshaping the maximum from 100 to 104 % :-)
Gudrun Wolfrath Apr 17, 2015:
You too, dkfmmmuc. Please tell us where you get those 4 % (in addition to the 100). Just kidding.
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 17, 2015:
@ALL: Really great discussion and contributions I am 104 % impressed about the dedication, the discussion and the contributions.

Will get a place in my ring binder where I store the most impressive parts of my translation experience. Similar to that one:

Ramey Rieger (X) Apr 16, 2015:
I am, too just had to throw that in before it got stuck in my thought-flow. Happy translating!
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 16, 2015:
Thanks Ramey Not too late but sorry to say that I am *overwhelmed* by the motivation booster.

Just doing the final checks of my translation and will deliver this afternoon - some hours ahead of schedule.
Ramey Rieger (X) Apr 16, 2015:
inspiring enthusiasm late, late, late!!!
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 16, 2015:

dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 15, 2015:
Would be fine if you would place an answer then the colleagues can agree/choose.
Berit Kostka, PhD Apr 15, 2015:
Just throwing in whatever comes to mind: booster-meetings, motivation booster, warm-up meetings, opening sessions...
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 15, 2015:
Thanks! As you see I am a bit *clueless* at the moment.

Kick-start for your motivation sounds also fine. A reference to some "kick-off" meetings for companies starting a new project.

Just will collect the suggestions until April 16th, 2015 evening :-)
Berit Kostka, PhD Apr 15, 2015:
No problem dkfmmuc, I did not ask for the customer's name as of course it shouldn't be revealed (but could be concealed). I just was curious to see the word Motivationsbeschleuniger in its sentence to get a better idea what it is you want to say. Neither did I want to google the sentence.

Another suggestion that came to mind is something on the lines of "kick-start your motivation" or something, but surely this is not "high-class" enough I guess. That's why I asked.
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 15, 2015:
I am sorry, Berit. This sentence would deliver exactly 1 google hit. There is the KuDoz rule that the name of the customer shouldn't be revealed.

Both the source (copywriting German) and the target text are delivered by me. So there is also a high amount of flexibility in changing the context sentence to fit with the suggestions.

I am also curious what will happen and how the final version will look like.
Berit Kostka, PhD Apr 15, 2015:
What is the exact source sentence to see the word in context?
dkfmmuc (asker) Apr 15, 2015:
The main challenge is that I have the term incentive already used for parts of the description of the services. I am in search of a term which is a mix of a high-grade/high-level term and something having to do with accelerating.

Due to the fact that this would transport the idea.
Claudia Hoffmann Apr 15, 2015:
To my opinion 'incentive' fits best here.

Thanks! I need something with gaining momentum/velocity/accelerating (see discussion entry). Therefore the booster is slightly better.

agree Helen Shiner : Agree that the motivation bit sounds more natural as an adjective in EN. But as you suggest, it doesn't even need to be there./Hard to find the motivation to stay indoors, isn't it?!

There's a lot of this stuff online, just google turbo-charge and motivation for lots of up-to-date, management-speak ideas

I would avoid "kick-start" -- you're not beginning at a standstill (I imagine); you're aiming to boost performance
Note from asker:
Thanks for the suggestion. This is also great but it reminds me more of a short weekend to re-charge your energy and then continue to work or something like a power nap. This would be great for a hotel or a fitness event or similar.

This is a great suggestion like the motivation booster. You both should know that this is really appreciated. Sorry to say that I can only choose one suggestion as the text is not so large that I could use variations.
