German term

Darnachrichtung

German to English Social Sciences General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
From a 1940 letter, written in Budapest, Hungary:

The sentence is quite clear (with the exception of the word "Darnachrichtung," which I can't seem to find anywhere).

@ Birgit Gläser Actually, they writer of the letter sent a package to a third party in Lemberg (Lviv, Ukraine) on behalf of the addressee. Since the package was returned to them, I guess they wanted to let the addressee know, so he could take care of the matter, i.e. provide a new address, etc. Thanks for your insight!

would go with "information" or poss. "compliance" Looks like they sent them a package which was returned to them with a note and they are including the note in the letter for their "information"... the only thing I can think of is that it was supposed to be "Danachrichtung" which would be the probably non-existent noun for "sich danach richten" in which case it would be "compliance.

It should not be Danknachricht, as they sent the package and it was returned to them...

The big question for me is, if the package was returned, did they send this letter to the same address hoping it will get through better than the package? And yes, it apparently did, but weird nonetheless... more context would be helpful...

I think it is a typo.
It could be Nachrichnung or maybe Danknachricht
Both of these make sense within the context.

This is from the Reference item, below (which cuts off with a paywall): "According to Grimm’s dictionary, the German Nachricht (“piece of news,” “tidings”) first carried the sense of “message to be acted upon [darnachrichten] and heeded” [1]. The German term thus did not refer to just any piece of new information, but to a co…"
