a 'jero' is a slang for 500 TZS note so perhaps the vendor is talking about the spot where they put their money/change. Most vendors would be collecting increments of 500 shillings at a time anyway. for example, a 1000 note is a buku, and a 10,000 note is msimbazi, can't remember the slang for the 5,000 note...
