The secret to the car is its power to weight ratio – this steaming hot speedster weighs just 1495 kg but the classic BMW three-litre straight six churns out 250 kW.

A straight six is an engine with all six chambers in a row:

... hence my guess.

Kas's term "ses-in-lyn" does occur on the web (4 times), but it lead me to the Motor Mechanic exam paper of the Education Department, in which "ses-in-lyn" was given as an alternative for what appears to be the preferred term "[sessilinder-]gelidenjin".

: 'n "Reeks-sessilinder-enjin" sou in Engels 'n "serial six-in-line" gewees het. Ses-in-lyn is die aanvaarde en gebruiklike term. Die vraer stel haar aan kritiek bloot met die ander term.

ses-in-lyn
This is the term given by the Motor Dictionary. It means that the engine has six cylinders in line and not, for instance, in a V configuration. A six-in-line engine would be a "ses-in-lyn-enjin".

: Also called a "sessilinder-gelidenjin" (see my comment)
