I don't really get your question, could you please detail or out it into context?
In general, linguistics matters everywhere, as that's the underlying governing/descriptive structure behind what we use everyday to communicate with each other. Linguistic knowledge enhances the success of this communication and could potentially influence business or others. But it really depends on what context you mean and what exactly you'd like to find out.
